Bible Utilities ("the site") is a free tool built and operated by John David Lusan. This page explains what data we collect, how it's used, and the terms for using the site.
Privacy Policy
Data we collect
- Email, name, and password (hashed, never stored in plain text) — if you create an account
- Reading plans you generate or save, and your checkbox progress on them
- Giving history you log (income, tithe amount, amount given, notes, dates) — only if you use the giving log feature
- Prayer requests you add to your prayer journal
- Messages you send through the contact form
You can use the Bible reading plan generator and tithe calculator without creating an account or providing any personal information. An account is only required to save plans, log giving history, or use the prayer journal.
How we use your data
- To create and authenticate your account
- To save and display your reading plans, giving history, and prayer journal
- To send you account-related email (welcome email, password reset) and, if you contact us, to reply to your message
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Third-party services
- Railway — hosts the site and our PostgreSQL database
- Resend — delivers account and contact-form emails
- Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless site analytics. It does not track you individually or collect personal data.
Your rights
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. We'll remove your account, reading plans, giving history, and prayer requests within a few days of your request.
Terms of Use
The service
Bible Utilities is provided free of charge, for personal, non-commercial use. There is no subscription or payment required to use any feature of the site. Donations via Buy Me a Coffee are optional and voluntary.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. Reading plans, tithe calculations, and other tools are provided for informational and personal-organization purposes and should not be considered financial, legal, or theological advice.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
